Food and Beverages at Kirkton House
A Warming Welcome
Guests are offered a welcoming hot drink in the lounge on the afternoon of their arrival.
Breakfast
Breakfast is normally served:
- Mon - Fri 8.00am to 9.30am
- Sat & Sun 8.30am to 10.00am
... However, the hosts at Kirkton House are happy to be flexible if guests have a valid reason for requiring breakfast at other times - to allow for early flights or business appointments, or for those that prefer a 'lie in' one morning! If breakfast is required before 7am, a cold buffet will be made available so that breakfast may be taken at the guest's convenience [paying the bill the evening before if departing in the morning!].
Each morning an extensive Scottish Breakfast is prepared to order, including:
- Cereals, Milk, Fruit Juices and Yogurt from the Buffet
- Tea [Regular and Herbal], Filter Coffee [Regular and Decaff] or Hot Chocolate
- Scottish Porridge Oats
- White, Wholemeal and/or Wheat/Gluten Free Toast
- Warm Croissants
- Honey and homemade marmalade and preserves
Next, there is a choice of Loch Fyne Kipper [Smoked Herring], Smoked Haddock with Poached Egg, Pan Fried Mushrooms on Toast, Two Pancakes with Maple Syrup, Two Boiled Eggs with Toast, or a full cooked breakfast.
Full Cooked Breakfast
Fried, Scrambled or Poached Egg, Bacon, Sausage, Tomato, Mushrooms, and Potato Scone or Hash Brown - or any combination of the full cooked breakfast – black pudding on request!
Snacks
Crisps, Peanuts and a selection of Cup-a-Soups are are usually available. Sandwiches can be prepared to order for consumption on or off the premises, subject to the varying availability of possible sandwich fillings, such as Ham, Tongue, Cheese, Egg, Tuna, Smoked Salmon, Beef … with extra filling options of cucumber, lettuce, tomato, mustard, branston pickle, mayonnaise, Marmite/Vegemite, salad cream, etc.
Sandwiches are available for between £2.50 and £3.50 depending on chosen fillings.
Fresh fruit - Apples, Oranges and Bananas also usually available.
Beverages
Kirkton House is no longer licensed to sell alcohol, but there is a small range of soft drinks, mixers and fruit juices available for guests at modest cost. Guests may bring their own alcoholic drinks or wines. Suitable glassware and/or ice can be provided free of charge. There is a barrel of house red wine in the dining room for guests to help themselves to a glass - wine glasses are next to the barrel, together with bottle openers for those that have brought their own bottles!
